Obama injects Galileo.

Obama is doing a pre-emtive strike on Pre-Heliocentrists.

He assumes that Pre-Heliocentrists will create fear by playing the "Earth" card.

It seems strange to me that Obama would bring up Galileo before anyone else does.

Bringing up Galileo is what got Pope Urban VIII into trouble isn't it?

Here's Pope Urban VIII's comment:

"What the fuck do you mean the Earth revolves around the Sun?

Here's Obama's comment:

"We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And he doesn't believe in Father Grassi's Astronomical Disputation on the Three Comets of the Year 1618!"

Regardless of whether or not Pre-Heliocentrists go after Obama for using Galileo, IMO, it's not wise for Obama to accuse someone in advance.

It really is nothing more than an assumption on Obama's part. I mean its not like they ever called anyone a heretic before!

I'm surprised Obama would make a pre-emptive accusation like this, especially since many have claimed Obama transcends astral physics!

I can think of a few pity comments about the poster of the diary this is responding to and the planet Uranus, but I think I'll abstain.

The Earth card is from the Tarot--did you know? It has a picture of an oldish, white haired guy smirking and holding a match to the planet. The Earth card is heavy duty. You don't wanna get it when you do the tarot. But if you do get it--best play it before anyone else does :)

Also, the fact that he notes an orbital relationship between the sun and the earth means he hasn't transcended gravity.

Re: Obama injects Galileo. (2.00 / 2)

Obama was supposed to be the candidate who transcended Aristotelean physics.  Who said that?  He didn't and nobody else did either, but the point is that he was supposed to.

Now he's been... what was the word dipstick used... "squashed"?
